The Best Kicks $1017 Can Buy...

Here it is: Los Angeles Lakers, Boston Celtics, Game 1 of the NBA Finals, the game folks have been clamoring for since November.
To be honest, you've gotta be a little surprised this match-up came together like it did. Kobe wanting out of L.A. Boston banking the franchise on a title run. The Memphis Grizzlies handing the Lakers Pau Gasol. The Hawks disappearing in Game 7. The Pistons getting old. The Spurs getting old. And, now, another Lakers/Celtics match-up. Nice.
To commemorate the occasion, adidas is dropping these super-exclusive adidas Team Signature Commander sneaks today. (These shoes didn't even come out yet!) Due out for the '08-'09 season, adidas has specially-designed these for Kevin Garnett to wear during every game of the NBA Finals. Problem is, you're gonna have trouble getting your hands on them. Only eight pairs will be sold through Celtics.com, the TD Banknorth Garden Pro Shop and the NBA Store in New York City, meaning you better be quick in you wanna snatch up a pair. Oh, and they're retailing for $1017 (to commemorate the Celts run at their 17th NBA championship), so there's that obstacle to tackle, too. Get to steppin' and check them out here.

Absolutely terrible. These didn't even cost $10.00 to make I'm sure. Society is so hooked on fashion and expense.
I remember my grandmother telling me that she only had one pair of shoes for years. We buy things because of cost/name, and feel that because the next person can't afford them (or wasn't dumb enough to buy them) that we are a bit superior. It all goes back to impressing the next person. Oh well, someone's getting rich.
