Sean Bell II :: The West Coast Version

From Inglewood, California, home of Magic Johnson's old stomping grounds, came news this past Sunday: two Inglewood police officers fired at least 15 shots at a car of three Black men, killing a 19 year-old named Michael Byoune, in a Rally's restaurant parking lot.

Byoune, a passenger in the car, was dead from shots to the torso. Two other companions survived, one with a slug to the leg. No weapons were found on the three men.

Although police at first claimed they may have been gang members, they later changed their story. Michael Byoune's mother, Jackie Byoune, said her son had never been involved in violence or gangs. She was left to mourn the death of her son on Mother's Day.

Inglewood police officials say they are looking for a mysterious gunman who allegedly fired shots at officers, causing them to fire at Byoune and his companions. Rounds not belonging to the officers were reportedly found in the parking lot.

The two officers, who have still not been identified, have been placed on administrative leave.

Inglewood's department seems as crooked as Vic Mackey's crew from "The Shield". It's had high-profile investigations over the past 6 years for brutality, rape, and sex solicitation.

Byoune's cousin, Paul Edwards, told the LA Times, "That car was riddled with bullets...Fifteen shots shows intent. Fifteen shots shows a purpose. They just blindly pulled into the parking lot, guns blazing."

Oh you didn't think that the westside would let New York cops catch all that shine, did you?
