Pure pop. Pure Britney. Pure dance. Puerile? Not quite. The texture of Janet Jackson's now-leaking new single "Feedback" is smooth, cold, flat, precise, like an impossible-to-crack safe filled to the brim with diamonds and pearls. And the singing patterns and inflections sound Rihanna-inspired, probably a wise move for a popular singer never celebrated for her, um, singing. At worst, this is an attention-getter and that's a good thing as Janet's coming off her worst-selling album. At best, it's yet another in a long line of Robo-soul that's blown this year. Long live pitch correct.
