Chris Brown Is Coming At Cha "This Christmas"

VC just watched the trailer for Chris Brown's upcoming movie This Christmas, and we cannot wait for it to hit the multiplex. No bootleg here. Peep the trailer:

Our only complaint is that it doesn't focus on that sexy Idris Elba for a few more frames, but we suppose we'll survive until the flick drops. Oh, this film also stars Delroy Lindo, Loretta Devine, Regina King, Mekhi Phifer, Columbus Short, Chris Brown, Laz Alonzo, Lauren London, Keith Washington, and David Banner.This Christmas hits theaters on November 21.

Superhead Doesn't Want To Be Known As Superhead Anymore

Karrine Steffans Superhead is acting real brand new all of a sudden. Yesterday she did a call-in interview with Detroit's WJLB morning show and gave the hosts major attitude while on air to promote her latest book, The Vixen Diaries. When one of the hosts introduced her as "Karrine Steffans better known as Superhead" she became very combative.

Superhead made it clear that she does not want to be known as Superhead anymore despite coining the nickname herself and once being very proud of the moniker. When the morning show hosts tried to call her out she flipped out and said “she won’t talk to ignorant Black people” before hanging up.

Superhead must have woken up on the wrong side of someone's penis that morning. Bill Maher, please come get your girl.

Omarion And Jennifer Lopez Want Us To "Feel The Noise"

Although this movie has straight-to-DVD written all over it, Omarion and his slick dance moves will be gracing the big screen once again in the flick Feel the Noise. O stars in the film as an NYC rapper who runs into some trouble with some thugs and is forced to leave the country to go stay with the father he never knew in Puerto Rico. While in the PR he meets his half-brother, gets turned onto the Reggaetón scene, falls for a hot mami, and they all live happily ever after to a thumping beat.

So they cast Omarion in a movie about Reggaetón? Um, was Daddy Yankee not available? Furthermore, Reggaetón is so 2005. Next thing you know O will be cast in a movie about cranking dat soulja boy coming to theaters in 2010.

We have producer Jennifer Lopez to thank blame for this.

Usher Reunites With His Mom At Launch Party

Usher celebrated the launch of his fragrances Usher for Men and Usher for Women at a star-studded party at Cipriani in NYC last night. Yeah, yeah, yeah, the usual suspects Beyoncé, Jermaine Dupri, Nelly and that original gangster Martha Stewart were in attendance. But the most surprising face to see in the place was none other than Usher's estranged mother, Jonetta Patton.

Jonetta was seen sporting a fly short haircut and she showed her firstborn much love at his big bash. As for that daughter-in-law of hers? That's another story.

Usher's wifey Tameka Foster was at the event but she was far, far away from mom dukes. Word is that when Tam-Tam and Jonetta's paths crossed throughout the evening that you could cut the tension with a butter knife. Something tells us that Jonetta won't be knitting any booties for her future grandson.

Angie Stone Breaks It Down About J Records And D'Angelo

Angie Stone is currently gearing up for the October 16th release of her new CD The Art of Love and War, led by the smoking single "Baby." This disc will mark her debut on the legendary label Stax Records, and Ms. Stone is more than ready for the new beginning.

She recently landed in the Washington, D.C. area for a listening party at a suburban Maryland art gallery; take it from VC that the new CD is full of grown and sexy music. In addition to debuting her new tunes for her fans, Angie let it be known that she left J Records because she wasn't a priority (cross reference Alicia Keys) and she made it crystal clear that she is tired of D'Angelo questions. Mariah Carey Strikes Back At Diddy

We never thought we'd hear ourselves say this, but the perfume wars are on. No, Michael Kors and Marc Jacobs aren't slapboxing each other trying to determine whose scent is fiercest of them all. Instead, a war of words has erupted between perfume new jacks Mariah Carey and Diddy.

Mimi didn't take too kindly to Diddy talking greasy about the competition during his Unforgivable Woman launch party last week. At the time, Diddy was quoted as saying, “I challenge all of my female counterparts that have fragrances…that my fragrance is better than theirs.” (But what about your milkshake, Puff?)

Well, Mariah wasn't trying to hear all that. Standing up for her new fragrance, M by Mariah Carey, she let it be known that Diddy's scent is not even on her level. According to Mariah, “I heard about this competition, and I wish Puff all the best with his new fragrance, but I think we’re actually appealing to different types of women. M by Mariah Carey is about being unforgettable, not unforgivable. It’s not about a ménage à trois or a one night stand, it’s for the woman who wants the man to fall in love with her immediately, stay in love, and treat her like royalty.”

Wow. Somebody got sonned. And over some ladies' perfume at that. We're sure that Diddy will have a response in no time.

Beyoncé's American Express Commercial Debuts

A couple weeks ago Beyoncé's print ad for American Express hit the net and now her commercial for the credit card has debuted online. The commercial features practically everyone in Miss Knowles' inner circle, including Mama Tina and her personal assistant/cousin Angela Beyincé.

Not to thrown salt in Bey's commercial hustle, but didn't she tell VIBE in our April issue that she didn't go on the internets? Here's her exact quote, in case you forgot:

“I absolutely do not (go on the internet). I have my Blackberry, but unless I’m approving videos or approving song mixes, I don’t go. I don’t buy anything online. I ‘m scared. I don’t want to just give ‘em my credit card. I don’t wanna be hacked.”

Very interesting. We suppose for the money that Bey is getting from Amex to peddle their cards that she changed her tune with the quicks.

Whitney Steps Out With Clive Davis

Last time we saw Whitney Houston she was looking rather lifted while out with the ex-hubby Bobby Brown to celebrate her birthday at that fine dining establishment, Joe's Crab Shack. But ever since then, Whit has been laying kinda low. We haven't seen the diva in a hot minute, but that all changed yesterday when she hit the streets with her savior Clive Davis.

The perfect musical pair hit up the restaurant Nobu 57 (now that's more like it--take notes, Bobbay) and Whit looked damn good. There's still no word on when her comeback disc is gonna drop but hopefully her new music will sound as good as she looks in these flicks.

Dr. Dre Says It's A Wrap After Detox

After shocking the stuffing out of a worldwide audience with his rare--not to mention swole--appearance on the MTV Video Music Awards a few weeks ago, Dr. Dre has decided that after he drops Detox that he's outta the rap game for good. Detox is allegedly coming out in 2008, but we've been hoodwinked and bamboozled with release dates that have come and gone before.

But allegedly next year is the year for the good Dr. to drop his long-awaited masterpiece, which will also be his last to hear him tell it. He was quoted in the Los Angeles Times, saying "I think it's time to move on," and calling rhyming "a young man's game."

So there you have it, folks, it's a wrap for Dre after he releases Detox. Although some may argue that it's already been a wrap as long as it's taken this CD to drop. Nonetheless he plans a graceful exit from rhyming, unlike some people we know who just can't let it go.

Christina Aguilera Joins The Perfume Pack

For crying out loud, we really can't keep up with all of these celebrity fragrances. Now Christina Aguilera has joined the ranks of Jennifer Lopez, Usher, Mariah Carey, Diddy, Gwen Stefani, Kimora Lee Simmons and few hundred other celebrities and created a fragrance.

MAKE IT STOP, MOMMY!

We don't know what Xtina's new scent smells like, but we wish her luck as she tries to carve out her spot in the already over-saturated perfume market. We'll see just how long it takes this to make it to the shelves of T.J. Maxx.

Eddie Murphy And Tracey Edmonds Are Busy Planning Their Wedding

So it looks like Eddie Murphy and Tracey Edmonds are serious about this marriage thing. Much to our surprise, the engaged couple are dead set on getting married and have divulged that they are currently planning their nuptials.

The lovey dovey pair were spotted on the red carpet of the Edmonds-produced flick, Good Luck Chuck, this past Wednesday and the razzi wanted the 411 about their impending wedding. Eddie and Tracey were tight-lipped about their big day, but they did say that the date was getting "closer and closer" and that they still had a ton of planning to do for the small, casual affair. And by small and casual they mean that Melanie "Scary" Spice Brown will not be invited, we presume.

Beyoncé's New Wig Is Unforgivable

After seeing this photo of Beyoncé from Diddy's Unforgivable Woman launch party last night we really had to do a triple take to make sure it was her. As you can see, she's gone from her usual light bright lacefronts to a darker-hued wig. And we'd have to give this new look four thumbs down.

Aside from the color change, we don't know what it is but something looks off about old girl. Bey doesn't have her usual spark with these dark locks. Her wigologist should have said to her, "Dark brown is not your color."

What do y'all think? Does this color change fit Beyoncé or should she stick with something lighter?

Amy Winehouse Cleans Up Sorta Well

Amy Winehouse was the picture of crackhead perfection at the 10th Annual MOBO Awards in London last night. The drug-addicted singer rocked her usual Bride of Stankenstein beehive, but thankfully she left her bloody ballet slippers at home and opted for some heels and a kinda cute (for her, at least) dress.

Wino was named Best UK Female artist and performed two songs at the awards show. She lost out on three other awards, however, coming up short in categories for Best Song, Best Video, and Best R&B Act. For a complete list of winners go here.

Usher's Fragrances Getting Bad Reviews

As we previously mentioned, Usher is yet another celebrity putting out a fragrance this year. Well, the women's perfume and men's cologne finally hit the shelves this week and word is that the scents are funky--and not in a good way. We're surprised that fans aren't feeling Tameka Foster's bottled musk. NOT!

A montage of commercials that Usher shot to promote the fragrances has also surfaced on the net and they are beyond boring. Don't operate heavy machinery after watching this as it may cause drowsiness:

Timberlake's Ribs Are A Big Hit

All that singing about baby back ribs in the Chili's commercials back in the day seems to have paid off for Justin Timberlake as he has apparently hit the jackpot with the ribs recipe at his restaurant, Southern Hospitality.

JT has been getting rave reviews for his finger-licking ribs and the newly-opened spot seems to be quite a hit. We wonder if his ex Britney Spears will be eating there anytime soon. She has to maintain her out-of-shape figure and a slab of ribs will surely do the trick.

Graduation > Curtis: Kanye Outsells 50 In A Major Way

Men lie. Women lie. Numbers don't.

Preliminary numbers are in and according to HITS Daily Double, Kanye West's Graduation has outsold 50 Cent's Curtis by leaps and bounds. Or 930K versus 659K units, to be exact.

Fiddy is crying foul and accusing Def Jam of def scamming and rigging the sales charts in Ye's favor. And here we thought that Kanye was the resident cry baby. Curtis, please go sit down somewhere and sip on some Vitamin Water.

Official SoundScan numbers will be released tomorrow to confirm what we already know: Kanye is the champion.

Who Said Ashanti Was Fat?

Yesterday a new song from Nelly's love muffin surfaced on the net as well. Carrying on her tradition of using the word "baby" in a song title, Ashanti's new single is entitled "Hey Baby (After the Club)." The track is produced by Mario Winans and it sounds like "Last Night 2.0." Was any effort put into this song at all? Ashanti's new CD is scheduled to drop this December so there's still time for a better song to be dropped as a single, cause this ain't the one.

Does Jennifer Lopez Have Babies On Board?

A week after appearing on our last edition of Pregnant or Swole? word comes that Jennifer Lopez is indeed with child--or children, as the case may be.

Yes, J.Lo is reported to not only be pregnant but possibly pregnant with twins. After two years of trying to procreate with husband Marc Anthony, Jenny from the block may be in store for a double dose of doody diapers come next year.

According to InTouch Weekly, 38-year-old Jen decided to get pregnant with the help of world renowned fertility specialists and she is currently three months into her pregnancy. The Anthonys' newest collabo is scheduled to drop sometime in spring 2008.

Kanye West Has A Sense Of Humor

One of the highlights of last night's snoozetastic Emmy's was the appearance of Kanye West on the telecast. Nah, Ye didn't get to perform like we all thought he would, but he appeared in a live skit with Wayne Brady and Rainn Wilson from "The Office" that was actually pretty funny. Check it:

No tirades or hissy fits here; look at Kanye all smiling and what not. And he has good reason to be in a good mood. Graduation is in the midst of whoopin' that trick against 50 Cent's Curtis in the UK, with US album sales data to be released this week.

In other Kanye news, he's joined with the group Ed in 08 on a campaign to make education a key issue in the upcoming presidential election. Not bad for a college dropout.

Mya Gets A Release Date!

We sincerely hope that Universal Slowtown Motown isn't playin' with our emotions, but word is that Mya has finally secured a firm release date for her new CD Liberation. Oh happy day! Excuse us while we break out into a quick happy dance.

OK, we're back. So, yeah, Miss Mya's long-delayed disc has gotten the green light and will hit store shelves on October 23rd. After all this time and drama we really hope that she puts out a banger with Liberation. Her singing career really needs a boost at this point.

Jennifer Lopez: Pregnant Or Swole?

In this latest installment of "Pregnant or Swole?" we have none other than Jennifer Lopez looking rather rotund 'round the midsection at her Justsweet fashion show yesterday during the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Spring 2008.

When J.Lo walked the catwalk at the end of her show at we couldn't help but notice her belly bulge. Whether this is a baby bump or the result of a few too many tortilla chips at lunch remains to be seen, but we're sure we'll hear something soon. Nicole Richie and Halle Berry could only keep silent for so long.

Diddy Commercial Too Hot For MTV

Sean "Diddy" Combs has raised a few eyebrows over there at MTV with his too-hot-for television commercial for his new fragrance, Unforgivable Woman. The network has deemed the ad to be too racy for the channel and has requested that Combs make a few edits before it can run.

Well, Diddy ain't really trying to hear all that censorship stuff. Despite the advert featuring Diddy "hiking up model Jessica Gomez's skirt, putting his hands under her dress, and a scene with another woman holding Gomez's breast and pulling down her underwear," so far he has refused to make any edits.

We peeped the commercial over there on the New York Post's website and it is a bit much. But despite that, MTV, the television home of Spring Break debauchery and Tila Tequila's upcoming bisexual dating show, has got a damn nerve.

Kanye's Rant At VMA's Caught On Tape

After going home empty handed and feeling like the ugly stepchild for not performing on the main stage at Video Music Awards, Kanye West let loose and had some choice words for MTV Sunday night. And best believe someone caught the tirade on tape:

Tell 'em why you mad, son!

But love him or hate him, Mr. West does have a point. Yeah, he may oft be a sore loser and his delivery isn't always the best, but in this case we really can't be mad at Kanye for exclaiming that he is never coming back to MTV after this latest diss. We'd be a little miffed if we had the number one single and one of the hottest discs of the year, and we got passed over to open the show in favor of non-singing, non-dancing Britney Spears, too.

Beyoncé's American Express Ad Unveiled

While Kelly Rowland is busy trying to scrape together a hit record and make sure she has enough on her EBT card to last through the end of the month, Beyoncé and Mama Tina Knowles are the latest stars in the celebrity-centric American Express advertisements. The House of Dereon duo can be seen in the ad leading the jet setting life they have come accustomed to. Bey is rocking a gold frock and matching stilettos while her mom is channeling her inner Cheetah Girl.

We're just trying to figure out what's up with Mama Tina looking like the ghost of Michael Jackson, though? Somebody please write her a prescription for a tan.

Jennifer Hudson To Have Some "Sex In The City"

Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson has just secured a role in the upcoming Sex In the City movie. Now that was some unexpected casting seeing how racially challenged the television version of the HBO series was.

But our favorite Dreamgirl will have a supporting role alongside Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, Kristin Davis, and Kim Cattrall who will be reprising their roles in the film. J. Hud will star as SJP's assistant and she's in final negrotiations with the producers to flesh out the details. Hopefully this will be a good look for Jenny and she won't be relegated to getting Carrie Bradshaw's coffee and carrying her shopping bags.

Kelly Rowland Premieres New Video, Confirms Ms. Kelly Re-Release

It really pains us that Kelly Rowland has released the cut "Ghetto" as her second single off of Ms. Kelly. Both the song and the video that premiered last night on BET's Access Granted are blah at best, even with the presence of Snoop Dogg.

K.Ro can do so much better, which may be why Columbia Records has confirmed that Ms. Kelly will be reworked and re-released this fall. Kelly is enlisting the help of producers Brian Michael Cox and J.R. Rotem to help to bring the CD back from the dead.

Kim Porter Wises Up, But Is She Back With Diddy?

So Diddy and Kim Porter were seen kicking it strong at his Labor Day white party, huh? Well that little breakup stunt didn't last very long, now did it?

Word is that the lovers for life were reunited and got reacquainted at his annual event this past weekend. Although Kimmie Kim wasn't seen on the red carpet, celeblogger Perez Hilton was able to snag a photo of Diddy and his baby mama laughing it up while gazing lovingly at each other with their twins in tow. If this isn't the picture of dysfunction, we don't know what is.

Janice Combs is gonna be pissed about this.

Tisha Campbell and Duane Martin Deny Divorce And Gay Rumors

Who knew that our blog back in July about Tisha Campbell and Duane Martin's rumored divorce and sextracurricular activities would raise such a fuss? With 126 comments and counting, this story has more legs than Kimora Lee Simmons.

Well, after a few weeks of heated speculation and drama, Tisha and Duane have finally spoken out to squash all of the rumors. They chatted it up with Essence.com and set the record straight (pun intended) about Duane's alleged homosexual affair with fellow thespian Will Smith. The happy couple also vehemently denied that they are headed to heartbreak hotel, assuring everyone that their 17-year relationship is solid as a rock.

In addition to deading the rumors, the Martins also discussed their booming real estate business and their son's autism. The family has struggled with six-year-old Zen Martin's condition since he was 18 months old, but according to Tisha and Duane he has made a considerable amount of progress.

Dawn Robinson Trying To Stage A Comeback

After enjoying a ridiculous amount of success both with En Vogue and Lucy Pearl, Dawn Robinson is now broke and trying to stage a comeback of sorts. She has been trying to do the solo thing for a minute now, but nothing has popped off for the formerly funky diva.

Now she has decided to do what a lot of has-beens and almost-weres have taken to doing in recent years: reality television. However, you won't be seeing her on The Surreal Life or Celebrity Big Brother. Dawn, alongside her husband singer Dre Allen, who is trying to get his career off the ground, has filmed a reality series, The Come Back & Come Up of Dawn & Dre, that chronicles their life in music and living from hustle to hustle. The independently produced project has not found a home yet, but rumor is that it is being shopped to BET and TV One.

VC was all set to clown, but this show looks like it may have some substance to it. And if these two have to deal with rats and roaches on the regular, then we really need for them to come back and come up so that they can afford an exterminator.

Usher Selling House, Showing Out With Ellen DeGeneres

Since tying the knot with Tameka Foster, Usher gained not only a bride, but also a ready-made family in the form of her three kids. Needless to say, his bachelor pad wasn't going to cut the mustard anymore. He recently put his 5-bedroom, 4½-bathroom home on the market and is looking to upgrade. He's gonna need some extra room for his ego.

VC just wonders how much they paid Ellen's audience for that enthusiastic response Ursh received when he walked on stage. We're just saying.

Shaunie O'Neal Selling Items On Ebay?, Superhead Chimes In On Divorce

Just when we thought we'd heard it all surrounding Shaquille O'Neal's surprise divorce filing, here comes his estranged wife Shaunie O'Neal selling her belongings on eBay! In a truly bizarre twist to this story, the soon-to-be-former Mrs. O'Neal has set up shop on the 'Bay and currently has two items for sale as the seller "mrsshaqscloset." Hmmm, we wonder if this is related to all the money she was stashing away during their marriage?

And leave it to Superhead to open her mouth about the Shaq/Shaunie divorce story. Miss Stefans chatted with the New York Daily News and told them how Shaq spent over $40,000 on her during their four month relationship while he was engaged to Shaunie. We know that Superhead has a hard time keeping her mouth shut, but damn.

Is this the cover for Alicia Keys' highly anticipated new CD, As I Am?

Survey says, "NO!"

Despite the hype, this isn't the cover for Alicia's upcoming disc. The above graphic was adapted from a wallpaper courtesy of the good folks over there at Alicia-Keys.net, an Alicia Keys fansite.

That was a nice try, but you can't fool VC. Until Alicia's real CD cover pops up and the album drops on November 13th, we'll just enjoy her fresh single, "No One," in the meantime and between time.

Seeing Chilli lunchin' and crankin' dat soulja boy in this video shot at the V103 studios in Atlanta makes us miss TLC all the more.

And speaking of supersoaking that ohhh, Usher and Tameka Foster had their formal wedding ceremony over the weekend. And the world could give less than a damn.

Rihanna Denies LaBeouf Relationship

Attention fellas, Rihanna is still a free woman to hear her tell it. She was spotted last Wednesday night at a NASCAR-related function and one of the razzi's asked the "Shut Up and Drive" diva about her alleged relationship with Shia LeBeouf.

According to Rihanna: “Me and Shia, we are just friends, you know, we barely even know each other.”

So there you have it straight from the Bajan's mouth. She is not dating Shia LeBeowulf. Never mind that the two friends who barely know each other were spotted having dinner later that night. You need more people, Rihanna.
